MONTECITO RESIDENCE I

Tucked within the coastal enclave of Montecito, this expansive contemporary California estate was designed as a multi-generational retreat for an international family spanning six grown children and their families. The clients envisioned a welcoming gathering place that fully embraced the spectacular natural setting—balancing the grandeur of large-scale architecture with an effortless, approachable atmosphere where all generations could gather freely.

To anchor the home’s lofty ceilings and wide footprints, our design strategy centered on deliberate proportion and resilient materiality. We commissioned custom, scaled-up furnishings designed specifically to fill the grand volumes, pairing them with high-performance textiles throughout to ensure every living area is suited to active family life.

The main living spaces dissolve outward, opening directly onto sandstone terraces to draw the sweeping mountain-to-coast views inside. Artisan tilework, vibrant accents, and pewter-finished architectural details complete the home—pairing the estate’s impressive scale with a grounded, enduring sense of comfort.
